Sick and tired of being sick and tired

Yup yup, that’s me! If it’s not one thing, it’s another. And another, and another, and another…I’ve been sick three times in the last two weeks and I’m on my second course of antibiotics in the same time period. Stupid sinus infection/bladder infection/flu. At least I don’t look like I met up with the business end of a baseball bat anymore.  And now the flu is making rounds at our house: I spent the weekend (and yesterday) on the couch under a blanket watching Star Trek and trying to feel better.  Today appears to be Greg’s turn; he left for work this morning and was back at home inside half an hour.  By the time I left for work, he was feeling even worse than before.  I hope it won’t last long.  And I hope the kids don’t catch it.

The kids seem to have caught the grump bug.  They were both a bit on the grumpy side this morning.  I think a good solution to that problem is for everyone to go to bed early tonight.  Sounds like a plan to me!  I just don’t know how I’m going to squeeze in working out, showering, fixing supper, and folding laundry into a three-hour timespan.  The kids get to hit the hay at eight and I want to be in bed by nine tonight, but I rather doubt it’ll work out the way I want it to.  Working today hasn’t worked out the way I want it to, either, primarily because I’ve been so tired I can hardly see straight.  That’s been the case for a while and I’m really tired of it.

Also, why does being a chick have to rock so much?  I would be totally fine if suddenly it decided to rock a little less.  Lousy unwelcome visitors making me miserable, anyway.  I’m already sick and tired, isn’t that enough?

Oh, let’s see what the fishies are up to.  Ah, they seem to be floating near the top of the tank again.  Ooo!  Two goldfish were in their tank one day.  One turned to the other and said, “You man the guns.  I’ll drive.”

I love that joke.  I know it’s a groaner, but I still love it.

We bought The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor a while back and finally got around to watching it Sunday night.  Soooooo not worth the twenty bucks we spent to buy it.  There’s just no replacing Rachel Weisz, I’m sorry.  Maria Bello, just…no.  I’m sorry, but you were just terrible.  You were completely over the top as Evelyn O’Connell (and I don’t mean that in a good way) and frankly, you ruined the movie for me.  Not that it was anywhere as good as the first two, but it would have been a lot better with Rachel Weisz.  At least she was believable.  End rant.

I think.

Okay and also, what was up with Alex’s newfound American accent?  In the second movie, he was a decidedly British little boy.  You don’t just go from having a British accent to having an American accent, I don’t care if it has been thirteen years or whatever it was.  Though I have to say that he was definitely his father’s son.  But still!  I just didn’t enjoy it as much as the first two.  I suppose this is on a par with all the die-hard Indiana Jones fans and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  That, too, was rather a disappointment.  If you watched it without any major expectations, it was an okay movie, but I can’t say that at all about the last Mummy movie.  A major disappointment all the way around.

Okay, I think I’m finally done now.

*sigh*  It is such a gloomy day outside today, as if you couldn’t tell from the last in my long line of bad poems.  At least the fog finally seems to be clearing off, but it was still misting earlier and the temperatures are supposed to plummet tonight, so hooray for icy roads!  Driving to work tomorrow ought to be some fun.

Hmm, I suppose I should get back to the piles of things on my desk now and get some actual work done.  I may be back later to continue making up for the complete lack of updates over the weekend.  Ciao!

I agree, the last Mummy movie wasn’t as good as the first two.

It’s just not the same if it’s not in Egypt! The whole Chinese thing was a neat idea and all, but you really can’t have two experts on ancient Egypt all of a sudden being experts on ancient China. I can understand Rachel Weisz not wanting to do the movie, although the reason I heard she gave for not wanting to do it sounded pretty lame, but she would have made it so much better. Big fan, in case you couldn’t tell. :)

I saw the Mummy 3 at midnight with my sibbies, so we totally had lots of fun at it. That said, obviously it can in NO WAY compare to the first two. I was seriously bummed by the lack of Rachel.

Still, I enjoyed it, so there ya go.

P.S. I heart Brendan Fraser, yes I do!

P.P.S. I’m sorry you’ve been so sick, what a bummer! Feel better! (And same to the fam!)

That does sound like a lot of fun. And I totally heart Brendan Fraser; he made the movie.

I’m starting to feel better! Yay! But Greg is just at the beginning of it, so I hope he gets better soon. Another day of lying around on the couch is in store for him today. It’s the weirdest kind of bug; my mind felt okay (as opposed to the completely blah feeling you usually have when you’re sick where it’s impossible for your brain to function at all) but my body felt like crap. And I hate calling in sick, so I felt really guilty about it Monday. Oh well, I suppose. I wouldn’t mind staying home today, too, but I can’t and it sucks.

I guess I have to suck it up sometime!
